The Gears of War: E-Day Premium Edition is the complete digital package: it includes the base game, five seasonal customization packs beginning with the Emergence Pack, the campaign-only Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack, and 1,000 Iron. The US Xbox Store listed it at $99.99 on October 9, 2026, compared with $69.99 for the Standard Edition.
The original offer also advertised up to five days of early access beginning October 1. That window ended when the standard release arrived on October 6, so it is not a current benefit for someone buying the game now. The practical decision is whether the included cosmetics, Iron, and campaign weapon pack justify the $30 difference from the current US Xbox Standard Edition price.

The comparison chart separates the base game from Premium Edition extras and the upgrade path.
Premium Edition at a glance
| Feature | Premium Edition status | Important condition |
|---|---|---|
| Base game | Included | This distinguishes the full Premium Edition from the Premium Edition Upgrade |
| Early access | Historical benefit | The October 1–5 access period has ended |
| Emergence Customization Pack | Included | This is the first of five seasonal customization packs |
| Four additional seasonal packs | Included | They are released as available rather than all arriving immediately |
| Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack | Included | Intended for campaign use only |
| 1,000 Iron | Included | Iron is the game’s premium in-game currency |
| Pre-order Exfil items | Not a standard post-launch promise | The qualifying pre-order offer ended before the October 6 release |
| Physical copy | Not included | The Premium Edition is a digital edition |
This package is the simplest premium route for a player who wants to own the base game and the listed extras in one purchase. It is not the same product as the $30 Premium Edition Upgrade, which is an add-on and does not provide permanent ownership of the base game by itself.
Everything included in the Premium Edition
The package is built around the base game plus cosmetic and currency extras. It does not list a promised campaign expansion or future story DLC, so the buying decision should be based on the content that is actually named rather than an assumed expansion pass.
The complete base game
The full Premium Edition includes Gears of War: E-Day itself. That means it can stand on its own as a purchase; you do not need a separate Standard Edition license to launch it.
This ownership point matters because the similarly named Premium Edition Upgrade contains the premium extras without the base game. If the store page you are viewing says that the base game or an eligible membership is required, you are looking at the Upgrade rather than the complete Premium Edition.
Five seasonal customization packs
Premium includes five seasonal customization packs in total. The Emergence Customization Pack is the first and is available at launch, while the other four packs are delivered as they are released. Buying Premium therefore does not mean every seasonal cosmetic is immediately present in your inventory.
Each seasonal pack is described as containing:
- Two character skins
- Two weapon skin sets
- Two character poses
- One banner
- One emblem
- One icon
The four later packs were not individually detailed in the official edition overview. Do not assume specific characters, themes, rarities, or release dates until those details appear in your store or game client.
Emergence Customization Pack
The launch pack has the most specific item list. It includes:
- Death’s Rendezvous Marcus Fenix Legendary Character Skin
- Bloodied Hunter Tai Kaliso Epic Character Skin
- “Death’s Rendezvous” Legendary Character Pose
- “We must improvise” Legendary Character Pose
- “Death’s Rendezvous” Legendary Weapon Skin Set
- “Emergence Omen” Rare Weapon Skin Set
- “Emergence Omen” Banner and Emblem
- “Death’s Rendezvous” Icon
These are customization rewards rather than additional campaign chapters or multiplayer modes. Players who rarely change character, weapon, banner, emblem, or profile cosmetics should give this portion of the bundle less weight when comparing editions.

The offer graphic presents the Premium Edition bundle and its named bonus content.
Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack
The Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack is included, but its stated use is limited to the campaign. It should not be treated as a universal weapon-skin bundle for every mode.
That restriction is important if your main interest is Horde Siege or Versus. The pack may still add value for a campaign-focused player, but it does not replace the multiplayer customization contained in the seasonal packs.
1,000 Iron
Premium also grants 1,000 Iron, identified as premium in-game currency. The package information does not establish what every possible Iron purchase costs or whether future store prices will remain unchanged. Evaluate the currency as a fixed 1,000-Iron grant, not as a guaranteed number of skins or future items.
Current price and the real value question
As of October 9, 2026, the US Xbox pages listed the Standard Edition at $69.99, the complete Premium Edition at $99.99, and the Premium Edition Upgrade at $30.00. Those figures apply to the checked US Xbox listings; they do not establish Steam pricing, prices in other countries, taxes, shipping costs, future discounts, or current stock at every retailer.
On that comparison, the Premium Edition costs $30 more than Standard. The listed US price structure also makes Standard plus the $30 Upgrade equal to the $99.99 Premium price before taxes or discounts. The meaningful difference is therefore not a built-in savings but how you prefer to establish ownership and whether either item is discounted where you shop.
Premium is the more direct choice when all of these are true:
- You do not already own the base game.
- You want permanent access through that purchase rather than relying on a subscription.
- You expect to use several of the seasonal cosmetics.
- The campaign-only weapon pack and 1,000 Iron have value to you.
- You are comfortable waiting for the four later seasonal packs to be released.
Standard is the cleaner choice when you mainly want the campaign and included multiplayer modes, do not care much about cosmetics, or would rather decide on the upgrade later. The Premium package does not advertise extra story missions that would make it necessary for completing the campaign.
Premium Edition versus the Upgrade
The two products include closely related premium content, but their ownership rules are different.
| Purchase | Includes base game | Includes premium extras | Best matched to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | Yes | No | Players who want the game without the premium bundle |
| Premium Edition | Yes | Yes | New buyers who want one complete digital purchase |
| Premium Edition Upgrade | No | Yes | Players who already have a valid route to the base game |
On Microsoft’s listing, the Upgrade requires either the base game or a Game Pass Ultimate membership, each sold separately. The Upgrade does not convert subscription access into permanent base-game ownership. If the qualifying membership ends and you have not purchased the base game, the premium add-on alone is not a standalone copy.
Do not automatically apply Microsoft’s entitlement wording to Steam. A Steam purchase is separate from Xbox Play Anywhere and should be checked inside the Steam account and store region where it will be used.
Platform and ownership checks
The Premium Edition was offered digitally for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Steam. Before buying, match the storefront to the account and devices you intend to use.
Xbox and Windows through Microsoft
The Microsoft route supports Xbox Play Anywhere. A qualifying purchase through that ecosystem provides access across current Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC under the same Microsoft account. This does not mean every save, add-on, or store purchase from an unrelated platform transfers automatically; it describes the Microsoft purchasing route.
Console online campaign co-op, Horde Siege, Versus, and other online multiplayer features require a Game Pass plan that includes console online multiplayer. Buying Premium provides the game license and listed extras, but it does not remove that separate console multiplayer requirement.
Steam
Steam is an available PC platform, but a Steam license is not an Xbox Play Anywhere purchase. Buying Premium on Steam should not be treated as an entitlement to the Xbox console or Microsoft Store PC version.
Confirm Steam’s current price, edition entitlement, and regional availability on the checkout page for your account. The US Xbox price does not establish those details for a Steam purchase.
PlayStation 5
The current official platform lists identify Xbox Series X|S and PC, including Steam. They do not establish a PS5 version or release date. Do not buy an Xbox or PC copy expecting it to supply a future PlayStation entitlement.
Expired early-access and pre-order benefits
“Up to five days early” was accurate before launch: Premium access began October 1, while the standard global release followed on October 6. As of October 9, both dates have passed. Premium owners can play now, but they no longer receive additional days ahead of Standard buyers.
The pre-order offer was separate from the permanent Premium contents. Qualifying pre-orders could receive the Exfil Dom Legendary Character Skin and Exfil Legendary Weapon Skin Set. The offer applied to several editions and was valid only for purchases made before October 6, 2026 at 7:59 a.m. Pacific Time, subject to participating-retailer availability and redemption conditions.
Digital pre-orders were automatically granted the Exfil items, while physical buyers could receive a single-use code through a participating retailer. A post-launch Premium purchase should not be assumed to include those rewards unless the current store listing explicitly says it does.
The August Open Beta benefit is also historical. It was an early-entry benefit for the August 2026 beta period, not an active October beta and not an ongoing feature of the retail Premium Edition.
A practical checkout checklist
Use these checks to avoid buying the wrong product or valuing an expired benefit:
- Confirm the product name. The complete product must say Premium Edition, not only Premium Edition Upgrade.
- Look for the base game in the bundle list. If it is absent, the purchase cannot function as a standalone game license.
- Check the platform. Microsoft and Steam purchases are separate routes; Xbox Play Anywhere does not apply to a Steam copy.
- Confirm the current regional price. The $99.99 figure is the checked US Xbox price, not a universal price guarantee.
- Ignore early access when comparing present value. The October 1–5 window is over.
- Treat pre-order rewards separately. Exfil Dom and the Exfil Weapon Skin Set are not part of the permanent Premium content list.
- Expect staggered delivery. The Emergence Pack launched with the game, but the other four seasonal packs arrive as released.
- Check multiplayer subscription needs. Console online modes require a plan that includes online multiplayer.
- Verify the purchasing account. Buy on the account that will own or access the game and premium entitlements.
- Review the final bundle contents before payment. Store availability and regional terms can change after the October 9 reference date.
Bottom line
The Gears of War: E-Day Premium Edition is best understood as a $99.99 US Xbox digital base-game package with cosmetics, 1,000 Iron, and a campaign weapon pack. Its early-access period has ended, and its listed contents do not promise a future story expansion.
Choose it if you need the base game and already want the premium extras. Choose Standard if those extras do not justify the current $30 US Xbox difference. If you already own the game or rely on an eligible Microsoft membership, compare the separate Upgrade carefully—but remember that an add-on does not create permanent ownership of the base game.
